Clarissa Sam, RPh

Clarissa Sam is a pharmacist at UPGUYS, registered with the Ontario College of Pharmacists. She qualified as a pharmacist in Ontario in 2014.

Clarissa began her career in community pharmacy in the Greater Toronto Area, checking prescriptions for accuracy, identifying and resolving drug therapy problems, and counselling patients on prescription and over-the-counter medication. She prescribed for minor ailments, adapted and renewed prescriptions, administered vaccinations, and carried out point-of-care testing including A1C. She prepared and checked compliance packaging for patients on complex regimens, adjusting therapy where needed.

Her training included hospital placements in which she conducted medication reconciliations and discharge counselling, reviewed physician orders, and joined clinical rounds with physicians, nurses, and physiotherapists. She has trained and mentored pharmacy students throughout her career, and is registered with the College as trained to administer injections.

She holds an Honours Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy with Distinction from the Leslie Dan Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Toronto, and an Honours Bachelor of Science with High Distinction in biochemistry and integrative biology from the University of Toronto Scarborough. She consults in English and Cantonese.

At UPGUYS, Clarissa dispenses and counsels patients on testosterone replacement therapy and erectile dysfunction, by phone and secure message.
